If you are visiting Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), and are looking for a day trip to Virgin Gorda, this is what I suggest:
8:00 a.m. – Call Speedy’s, and reserve a car: 284.495.5235 http://www.bviferries.com/rentals.html
Take the 9:00 a.m. Speedy’s ferry to Virgin Gorda from Road Town, buy the round trip ticket.
When you get to Virgin Gorda, tell Speedy’s that you are renting a car, and they will shuttle you over to the car center for free.
10:00 a.m. – Go to the Bath’s, and take the walk from the parking lot, to the Bath’s. Hang out on Devil’s Bay Beach for an hour, then walk back up to the parking lot. Jump in the pool at the Top of The Bath’s restaurant, and have one of their great drinks. There are bathrooms downstairs where you can change into dry clothes.
12:00 noon – Leave the Bath’s, and head north. Go back by the ferry, pass Speedy’s again, and you will be on your way to the north part of the island. Take the west side road up the mountain, and stop by Hog Heaven.
12:30 p.m. Leave Hog Heaven, and head for Gun Creek. On your way there, call the Saba Rock water taxi: 284 -495-9966. If you don’t have a phone, I think they run every 30 minutes from Gun Creek. The taxi is free, we just tip the driver.
1:00 p.m. Eat lunch at Saba Rock. Walk around and hang out, get some sun. If you have time, take the taxi over to Bitter End Yacht Club, look around, walk around.
4:00 p.m. Take the water taxi back to Gun Creek. Get your rental car, go put $5 of gas in the car, and drop it off. Speedy’s will take you back to the ferry terminal for free.
